How we treat each other here

Last updated 15 October 2026. These guidelines are part of the terms.

EduFabTech is a board where students who do not know each other yet find rooms, flatmates, company and friends. That only works if everyone can assume the person on the other side is real, honest and safe to meet. The rules below exist for that reason and for no other. They are short on purpose.

Be a real person, once

One account per person, in your own name or a name you actually go by. No second accounts, no accounts for a business pretending to be a student, no accounts run by software. A profile must describe you: your age band, what you do and where you live are read by the site to match you with others, and a false profile puts other members at risk. You must be at least 16 to have an account and 18 to use the parts that bring strangers together in person.

Say what is true

A listing describes a real room, thing, job or event that exists as described. A trip is a real plan. An offer to host is a real offer. A reference is written only about a plan or a stay that happened, by the person who was there, and is never traded or paid for. A poll vote is one person's honest answer. If something changes — the room is gone, the trip is off — update or close the post.

No money, no business

Nothing is bought, sold or paid for through this site. A listing may carry a price, and members settle it between themselves; the site never handles it. Hosting, Exchange, trips, tables and plans are free by rule: costs may be shared, but nobody charges for a bed, a seat or company. Do not advertise services, recruit for schemes, or use any part of the site to sell. A business may post a listing only with its name, address and contact shown, as the law requires.

What may not be listed

The following are refused in listings and removed on sight:

  • Weapons, ammunition and parts for them
  • Drugs, medicines, supplements and anything sold as a cure
  • Tobacco, vaping products and alcohol
  • Live animals
  • Counterfeit, replica or unlicensed copies
  • Stolen, recalled or otherwise unlawfully held goods
  • Adult services and adult material
  • Financial services, loans, crypto offers and “investment opportunities”
  • Personal data, accounts, credentials or identity documents
  • Recruitment that charges the applicant anything at all
  • Anything unlawful where you are, or where the other person is

Keep private things private

Do not publish anyone's phone number, email address, home address, documents or photographs of them without their say — including your own in a public post; the site refuses contact details in posts and cards for exactly this reason, so that people talk through messages first. Do not share what another member told you in a message or a reference without their permission. A home card names a city, never a street; where a host lives is told to a guest in conversation, by the host.

Argue with ideas, not people

Disagree as hard as you like with what someone says; do not attack who they are. No harassment, threats, stalking, insults, or discrimination by sex, origin, religion, orientation, disability or anything else a person is. No pressure: if someone declines an offer, a plan, a date or a message, that is the end of it. Reporting someone who said no is itself a breach.

This is not a dating site

Friend matching, tables, trips and offers are for company, help and friendship. Using them to look for dates or sexual contact is against the rules and gets the post removed and, on repetition, the account closed. The private details a member may share with a friend — including orientation — are never a reason to contact them and never a filter; treating them as one is harassment.

Meet safely

Meet a new person in a public place first and tell someone where you are going. Hosting and staying with a member are between adults who have both said yes, and either can withdraw before it starts. Nobody is owed a stay, a seat or a meeting because they asked, and nobody may be asked to prove they are safe in any other way than the references and the conversation the site provides. If you feel unsafe, leave; then report it.

Write for the readers

Forum posts, comments and replies belong under the topic they are about, in a language the readers can follow (the site is in English). No spam, no copied articles, no links posted for their own sake, no off-topic campaigns. Quote a source rather than claiming it; if an article is wrong, say what the source says instead.

What happens when a rule is broken

A moderator removes the post and tells its author which rule it broke — always one from a fixed list, never a vague "violation" — and how to appeal. Posting rights can be withdrawn for one part of the site alone, so a member stopped from posting listings can still read and take part elsewhere. Accounts that exist to spam, impersonate or harm are closed outright. A moderator never decides a case they are part of. The whole process, step by step, is described in How reports and removals work.
