Messages and stays
Talking on the site, stay records, reviews and blocking.
Messages
Members write to each other on the site, from a listing, a profile or anything they agreed to. Nobody on the staff can read your messages; when you report one, only that message and the few before it are copied to the report. A first message is a request: until the other person replies you can send 3 messages and no links. Writing to someone from their profile needs an account at least 7 days old or a few forum posts; writing about a listing is open to everyone. Messages cannot be edited or deleted once sent — they are each person's record — and a conversation with no new message for 365 days is removed.
Notifications and emails about a message carry no text, no sender name and no listing title: only that there is one. The site shows a warning next to messages that look like the common scams (payment first, moving off the site, a sudden emergency); it is advice, not a verdict.
Blocking and settings
Block any member from their profile or a conversation. They are not told; they see the same “not accepting messages” note as anyone else. In Email & alerts you choose who may start a conversation with you — anyone, or only people writing about your listings — and whether you want an email when a message waits unread.
Stay records
When a conversation is about a room or a place to stay, either side can propose dates and the other can confirm them. The result is a stay record: the listing, the arrival and leaving days, and when each of you confirmed. It is not a booking, not a contract and carries no price or address; it exists so that afterwards nobody can pretend the stay was never agreed. Records cover 1 to 180 nights, cannot be backdated, and once confirmed can be cancelled by one side only before the arrival day begins; after that, only if both say it did not happen. Your stays lists them all.
Stay reviews
After a confirmed stay ends, each side has 14 days to write one review of the other: one to five stars and 30–1,500 characters. Reviews are blind: neither is shown until both are written or the window closes, so neither can answer the other. They cannot be edited afterwards; blocking someone does not take away their right to review you. Reviews appear on profiles and, for guests' reviews, on the listing, showing only the month of the stay. Travel plans have their own references — how those work.
