Articles and news
The blog holds longer, reference-grade articles on technology and education, including a series on student cities; news is shorter and daily; the archive lists everything by month. Every substantive claim links to a source. Articles carry the site's name, not a person's, and the site answers for them.
Under each article a closed Sources box lists the references (3 in a news item, up to 5 in an article) with the date we last opened each. Links in the text itself are shown as plain text so that nothing pulls you away mid-sentence; the box is where you leave.
Finding things
Search covers articles, news, forum topics and replies, and polls in one box. Put a phrase in quotes to match it exactly, put a minus before a word to exclude it. If nothing matches, the site tries close spellings. On the blog and news pages the left column lists keywords that appear in at least 2 published pieces; click one to filter, click again to clear.
Signed in, you can follow a topic or a hashtag from the bottom of any article, or a country from its page: one notification per new article or trip, never more.
Comments
Every article and news item takes comments from members: plain text, up to 2,000 characters, replies allowed, no editing afterwards. Visitors see the first 5 comments shortened; signing in shows all of them. You can delete your own comment; its place stays marked so replies still make sense. A hidden comment always comes with the rule it broke and a way to appeal.
Corrections
If we published something you can show to be wrong, send the source. The correction is marked on the article; the address keeps working.
